 John Lawrence

John Lawrence is a professor in Ag Economics at Iowa State University.  He is also a Extension Livestock Economists for the Iowa State University Extension Service and the Director of the Iowa Beef Center, Iowa State University.

Lawrence's primary responsibilities include:

  •   Cattle and hog price outlook

  •   Livestock producer marketing
      and management decision-
      making

  •   Livestock and meat industry
      structure.

Lawrence feels he got a lot of his education before going off to college!  He was raised on and later operated a crop/livestock farm in southwest Iowa.  In the early '80s he was a herdsman on a 300-sow feeder pig operation.

Lawrence "supplemented" his education by attending Iowa State University and University of Missouri.  In 1989 he earned a degree in Agricultural Economics from University of Missouri.
