ASABE TENTATIVE SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
October 6, 2005

ASABE Tours

NOTE:  a number of these tours have security issues.  ASABE needs to provide lists to the companies before the day of the tour or provide those touring with information of what identification you need on you and/or what you can or cannot wear or have on your person before you can take the tour. 

For this reason, all tours must be reserved in advance of October 6.


Martin Marietta Aggregates 3:30 pm
Martin Marietta is the 2nd largest construction aggregates producer in the U.S. Tour the underground mine at the Ames facility. Martin Marietta will send a bus to pick up attendees at Davidson Hall.

3M – Abrasive Manufacturing Organization 3:30 pm
Tour 3M Ames plant where abrasives (sand paper) are converted into salable products. Must be signed up in advance to attend the tour. We must e-mail in advanced the names of all visitors

Ames Water Pollution Control Plant 3:30 pm
Tour the Ames Water Pollution Control Plan to see the chemical and physical processes used to treat residential, commercial and industrial wastewater so it can be safely returned to the environment. Use of anaerobic digestion for breakdown of removed solids; methane gas generated during process power generators which supply energy and heat to the treatment plant.

Barilla America, Inc. 3:30 pm
Among the largest pasta plants in the U.S., the Ames plant began producing pasta in 1998 and officially opened all lines of production in 1999. The company has security requirements we must meet so advance sign-up is mandatory.  Your name and where you are employed is required in advance.  Note:  They have very strict rules about what can come into the facility and how all employees and visitors must be dressed.

Registering for ASABE Events
The above activities are part of the Iowa Section of ASABE, however all centennial visitors may attend any of the events. If you did not receive a brochure from them, a link to their brochure can be found below.

Please note: most of the tours do require advanced registration and includes security. Please follow the instructions on the ASABE registration form and provide all the necessary information or you may not be allowed on the tour.
