ABE Student Guide
Introduction
Welcome to the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (ABE)! You are in training to provide engineering and technology for agriculture - the world's largest industry. The world depends on creative and skilled individuals who can use their knowledge of agriculture and life sciences along with the problem-solving skills of engineering to design
new technology to manage new systems and solutions to provide food and fiber for over 6 billion people in the 21st century.
This guide is intended to supply answers to your questions about the agricultural engineering and agricultural systems technology curricula, as well as other areas to help you navigate your time at Iowa State University.
Many of the guidelines and regulations discussed in the ABE Student Guide are found on official university websites. They should be considered the primary sources of information for you on many questions related to being a student. This guide is a supplement to these publications and is intended to be a source of information specific to the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Department. These sources include: The
General Catalog
